SUMMARY:
Develop Mechanical designs and systems for cost reduction and quality improvement projects. Coordinate mechanical design projects from inception to installation and operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment and tooling selection.
- Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
- Perform mechanical engineering duties in planning and designing the following: mechanical devices, components, engines, transportation equipment and environmental control.
- Oversee installation and repair of equipment including vehicle HVAC, generator, hydraulic, air ride, mechanical lift and plumbing systems. Also provide technical expertise on door linkage systems, fasteners, fastening systems and overall sealing surfaces.
- Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies or details.
- Confer with sales, planning, product development and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects through design and manufacturing process.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents Mechanical Design Engineering on cross functional teams.
- Ensures safety is promoted and maintains safe work areas.
- Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Support Manufacturing Engineering in design of machine tools, automated manufacturing equipment and power producing machines.
- Perform traditional Industrial and System’s Engineering functions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- B. S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering and experience in manufacturing processes.
- Five years of related Mechanical Engineering experience.
- Knowledgeable in personal computer skills (CAD systems, Microsoft products, Internet use and e-mail).
- Knowledgeable in Kaizen and Lean manufacturing techniques.
- Strong personal leadership and communication abilities.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Physical requirements: regularly required to walk, talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, crouch and kneel; frequently required to use hand to finger dexterity, handle and feel objects, tools, and/or controls; occasionally required to stoop or crawl.
