SUMMARY:
Responsible for product development, evaluation, selection, testing and the associated processes needed to assure continuous improvement and innovation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinate project management
2. Project creation and definition processes.
3. Establish schedules and timelines.
4. Create project status reports.
5. Project team creation and coordination.
6. New product research and testing.
7. Evaluate and test new product ideas from both internal and external vendors to assure quality, effectiveness, and practicality.
8. Develop new product design.
9. Responsible for assuring that required industry certification is maintained.
10. Ensure that all documents, data collection, and analysis are performed to satisfy the certification requirements.
11. Provide assistance in the testing and evaluation of various product performance issues.
12. Creation and processing of engineering change requests and new product development requests.
13. Coordinate resources to the manufacturing department in the development of processes and molds necessary to produce the product.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in sales presentations, catalogs, and general advertising literature.
2. Responsible for coordinating the delivery of samples, prototypes, etc.
3. Responsible for coordinating the testing and evaluating of products.
4. Complete testing reports including performance data, customer use advantages, and engineering recommendations.
5. Attend appropriate meetings and participates in related trade associations.
6. Manage and participate in the testing required for AMD and QVM certification.
7. Maintain industry compliance – FMVSS, NFPA, KKK and QVM guidelines.
8. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent
2. Eight years of prior experience in research and development engineering.
3. Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria.
4. Three years of SolidWorks and FEA software or equivalent.
5. Strong oral and written communication.
6. Physical requirements: regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, crouch and kneel; frequently required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and walk; occasionally required to stoop or crawl; and talk or hear.
