SUMMARY:
The Quality /Process Engineer will provide support to initiate quality/process improvement objectives in the manufacturing processes within each Value Stream.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide liaison support between Quality Assurance Team, Value Stream Managers/ Coordinators, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering and Sales Departments.
- Lead process improvement initiates to increase the quality and to optimize the manufacturing output.
- Perform and be the lead auditor on product and process audits.
- Assist CIT with plant responsibilities, including areas such as specification interpretation, calibration, materials review and work instructions.
- Work with engineering to develop simple and effective methods of testing and inspecting products.
- Assist supplier management activities such as conducting supplier audits, supplier approvals and supplier corrective action.
- Travel as necessary to customers and suppliers to assist with quality improvement activities.
- Support an awareness of the need for teamwork in order to attain team objectives.
- Monitor all manufacturing processes through audits and evaluations to ensure that processes are being followed.
10. Monitor Value Stream quality issues and create graphs to show trends.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Exercise initiates and judgment and make decisions within the scope of assigned authority.
- Proactively support the implementation of quality management system improvements.
- Take the initiative to meet deadlines and work in a team environment.
- Initiate quality programs using quality tools (PDCA cycle, PPAP, APQP)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in Quality and/or Industrial Engineering desired
- ASQ certification CQE/ CQA preferred
- Four years of prior quality experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable in personal computers
- Physical requirements: regularly required to walk, talk, and hear, reach, with hands and arms, stand crouch and kneel, frequently required to use hand to finger dexterity, handle and feel objects, tools, and/or controls; occasionally required to stoop or crawl
