See how two fire departments brought their vision to life at Booth #5574 — one fully custom, one Select by Braun — both Chief XL ambulances defined by legacy quality and built for life.
April 14, 2026 – VAN WERT, OH – Braun Ambulances, an American-made ambulance manufacturer known for its unmatched customization, will once again stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Fire and EMS professionals during FDIC International, April 23–25, 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Visit Booth #5574 to experience two powerful examples of Braun craftsmanship — a custom Chief XL Type I featuring a new blackout package and a Select by Braun Chief XL Type I.
These customer-driven ambulances demonstrate how Braun continues to set the premium standard for rugged dependability, craftsmanship, and customization for Fire and EMS departments across the nation.
“FDIC is about honoring the professionals who answer the call every day,” said Kris Turner, Channel Development Director, U.S., Braun Ambulances. “Whether it’s a fully custom Chief XL with a bold blackout package or a Select by Braun unit designed for streamlined ordering, we’re proud to deliver ambulances that reflect each department’s identity and stand the test of time.”
The Crown Jewel of Braun’s line-up—a Chief XL Type I—will be on display in the booth thanks to Keene Fire Department (New Hampshire) and Braun authorized dealer partner, Autotronics. The department’s custom Chief XL is built on a Ford F-550 4×4 gas chassis and features a striking blackout package, a bold statement in both performance and pride.
More than a sleek appearance with black wheels, badges, grilles and bumpers, the blackout package delivers real-world advantages. A powder-coated finish helps resist corrosion, oxidation and wear, protecting the truck against harsh New England conditions. The package also reduces glare, enhancing visibility during operations, and shows fewer water spots and fingerprints compared to chrome, reducing time spent on upkeep.
Keene Fire Department’s Chief XL also features a door-forward design with a traditional hinged entry door, maximizing cab space and workflow. A custom interior layout is enhanced with a Smithworks IV Warmer and Norcold refrigerator to support advanced patient care in critical moments. The patient compartment also features a camera to increase visibility from the chassis. Additions like the MMC Electrical System ensures dependable power distribution, while the Tomar Traffic Control System enhances safety at traffic intersections.
Braun Ambulances will also display a Select by Braun Chief XL crafted for Victoria Fire Department (Texas) and delivered through Siddons-Martin Emergency Group. Select by Braun is a special-order program that simplifies the customization process through pre-selectable options, delivering premium quality with shorter lead times and greater cost efficiency. Built on a Ford F-550 4×4 diesel chassis, this model balances speed to delivery with trusted Braun craftsmanship.
Engineered for extreme heat environments, from the Gulf Coast to the Desert Southwest, this ambulance features a Premium HVAC package with a dedicated engine-mounted compressor delivering independent air-conditioning to the patient compartment. Additional highlights include the MMC Electrical System for reliable performance, Whelen M-Series lighting for enhanced scene visibility, and Braun’s innovative E-Z O2 Lift system for safer oxygen cylinder loading.
By offering thoughtfully preconfigured layouts and proven features, agencies can reduce specification time, simplify purchasing decisions, and achieve faster delivery timelines through the Select by Braun program—resulting in a dependable ambulance that allows departments like Victoria Fire Department to expand their fleet efficiently while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship Braun is known for.
Standard on every Braun ambulance is a SolidBody™ Construction, ensuring ambulances stand the test of time, no matter the conditions.
Visit Braun Ambulances at Booth #5574 to experience both units firsthand and see how craftsmanship, customization, and rugged construction build a legacy of trust. Learn more at BraunAmbulances.com.
