Each year, EMS World seeks to identify the hottest new products in the EMS industry through its Innovation Awards program. The program focuses on highlighting the latest, most innovative products that can transform EMS care. Braun Ambulances is proud to announce that their new IMPACT Airbag System was named a 2021 EMS World Innovation Awards winner. The IMPACT Airbag System was introduced in August 2021 at FDIC and has been making news in the industry since.

“At Braun, we don’t want to just meet existing industry standards. Instead, we strive to create and set new industry standards, which is why we are honored to see the IMPACT Airbag System with RollTek™ technology recognized as a 2021 EMS World Innovation Award winner. A lot of time, money, and energy goes into developing a new product. The IMPACT Airbag System was no exception and what we introduced in 2021 was just the first phase. So, to see this already being recognized in the space and know it’s only going to get better is awesome,” says Chad Brown, Vice President of US Sales at Demers, Braun, Crestline.

The EMS World Innovation Awards program is open to new (introduced within the 12 months prior) products or those that have undergone significant modifications or upgrades. This year, the application process included products launched up to 18 months before to accommodate those released during the pandemic.

Companies submitted their products for consideration. Following the submission period, an independent panel of judges comprised of EMS World Editorial Advisory Board members narrowed the field to top finalists. An Innovation Award judge then evaluated finalists’ products during EMS World Expo, held October 4-8, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. Ten products were named winners.

The IMPACT Airbag System with RollTek™ technology leverages strategically placed airbags to deploy in the event of a side impact-induced rollover. The system calculates the vehicle’s angle and speed at which it is rolling to determine when to deploy airbag restraints. Inflated airbags assist in absorbing energy from the seated occupant(s). The airbags combine with additional energy absorption padding at head strike points and advanced seating restraints in all seated positions in the module to offer a new standard in provider safety.
