As we celebrate our 45^th anniversary this year, we’re pleased to be attending the 90^th year of FDIC. Also known as the Fire Department Instructors’ Conference, FDIC was established in 1928. Today, it’s billed as the world’s largest fire industry conference and exhibition with over 32,000 people attending in 2016!

FDIC is a mix of conference sessions and exhibitions. The conference includes hands-on training, workshops, and classroom instruction. Most of the educational opportunities at the conference are classroom sessions. There are hundreds to choose from, covering all levels of experience. Run by many of the Fire Industry’s movers and shakers, it’s an exceptional opportunity that can’t be matched elsewhere.  

In addition to the classroom sessions, there are pre-conference workshops that provide in-depth presentations on leading training topics in the fire service. This year, they will be available on Monday, April 24^th and Tuesday, April 25^th. Some of the 4 hour workshops being featured are “21^st Century Command and Control” and “Responding To And Preparing for Acts of Violence.”

The hands-on training sessions go by the name H.O.T. Evolutions. They cover the latest technology and techniques, bringing real life scenarios into a fast-paced practical experience. They are a great way to increase individual knowledge and help bring back new skills to hometown departments.

The last three days of FDIC feature the largest Fire Exhibition in the world. Over 800 vendors take over the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium to show off the latest equipment, apparatus, and more. Braun Industries will be in Booth #3546 with 3 customer units on display. We will also have units in the Ford, GM, and Freightliner booths.

FDIC 2017 will be held April 24^th through 29^th in Indianapolis, Indiana. Braun will be in attendance for the Exhibition only. Exhibit hall hours are:  Thursday, April 27^th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Friday, April 28^th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday April 29^th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you plan to attend, make sure to visit Braun in Booth #3546 inside the Indiana Convention Center to see some great units, get a free Braun Strong t-shirt, take a selfie on our new safety seating, and more!
